Independence of Central Controls of Vascular and Sweat Gland Responses in the Paw of the Cat.

چکیده
The galvanic skin response can be recorded as a reduction of skin resistance (Fere, 1888) or as a change of skin potential (Tarchanoff, 1890). Accompanying this response there may occur a vasoconstriction of the digits, shown by reduction of volume, pulsation, and blood flow. In the past there has been discussion about the relationship between the electrical and the vascular events. Recently Lader and Montagu (1962) have used pharmacological blockades to separate the responses in man, and have shown that each may occur when the other response is blocked. Their findings imply that the peripheral pathways are separate and independent in the post-ganglionic section. This still leaves open the question whether the pathways and controls are distinct within the central nervous system. The purpose of this paper is to report findings which show that the responses can be elicited separately when activating the central paths by direct or reflex stimulations. The central controlling pathways, both excitatory and inhibitory, are individual at least up to medullary level.

F-18 FDG PET/CT Imaging of Eccrine Sweat Gland Carcinoma of the Scrotum with Extensive Regional and Distant Metastases
Eccrine carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin cancer arising from eccrine sweat glands with a high metastatic potential. It mainly occurs in the elderly, with equal incidence in both sexes. It usually spreads to regional lymph nodes, with liver, lungs, and bones being the most common sites of distant metastasis. Because of tumor rarity, little is known about the value of F18- FDG PET/CT...
متن کاملSweat gland adenocarcinoma of the scalp: A case report
Sweat gland adenocarcinoma is a relatively uncommon malignancy. Clinical features are painless red or violet papules and nodules that can occasionally become ulcerated. The biological behavior is aggressive and metastatic sweat gland carcinoma spreads through the lymphatic. The treatment of choice is wide surgical excision with regional lymph node dissection. The portrayed ase was a 60-year-old...

Introduction: Poroscopy is a method of identification in which the characteristics of sweat pores are compared from different aspects. These pore openings are present along the friction ridges found on the distal end of digits, palms and soles in the hands and feet. Materials amd Methods: This study enrolled 100 Iranian males from the Fars family who resided in Khorasan Razavi Province. T...
متن کاملAnatomical and histological study of molar salivary gland in domestic cat
The gross and microscopic anatomy of the molar salivary gland of the domestic cat was studied. In this research, five pair of molar glandsfrom five male adult cats were used. In cat, the molar gland was elongated rectangle shape and was located obliquely in the submucosal fossa of the inferior lip, near the oral commissure. The dorsal border of the molar gland was attached to the masseter muscl...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF HYPOXIC HYPOXIA AND CARBON MONOXIDE-INDUCED HYPOXIA ON THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM AND REGIONAL BLOOD FLOW OF THE ANESTHETIZED CAT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential responses of the cardiovascular system and regional blood flow to hypoxic hypoxia (BB) and to carbon monoxide (CO)-induced hypoxia (COH). Ten anesthetized cats were studied under two nonnoxic (control: CONT) and two hypoxic conditions. Four types of radioactive micro spheres were used to measure regional blood flow during CONT an...
